1962 Leyland Royal Tiger Worldmaster (MTT 452)

In 1958 the State Government formed the Perth Metropolitan Transport Trust to take over the operation of Perth buses from the Tramways and the private companies, as many of the smaller companies were unable to satisfactorily maintain and upgrade their fleets. Metro Bus was one of the first and also the largest of the private companies to be taken over, and M.T.T. adopted Metro's colours and body styling which set the standard for the M.T.T. fleet for many years to come.

Leyland buses became the main workhorses of the fleet for some 20 years before the advent of European manufactured chassis, mainly Mercedes Benz. No 452 entered service on the 4th September, 1962 and was one of a group of buses numbered from 410 to 454. The bus served on various metropolitan routes until 16 March, 1983 when it was retired. The bus was sold to Christian Brothers College in Fremantle for use as a school bus, and later to Mr. Robert Pearce who used it on charter services until mid 2006. Mr Pearce kindly donated the bus to this Society for preservation in July 2006.
