All about the Bus Preservation Society of WA
The Bus Preservation Society of Western Australia (Inc) is a unique organisation dedicated to the preservation of Western Australian bus heritage — a national-recognised, working collection of buses, presenting the social and engineering history of buses used in WA for the benefit of visitors, the public, and future generations.
A living legacy
The Bus Preservation Society of Western Australia envisions a future where the rich history of the state's public and private transport is preserved, celebrated, and shared for generations to come. Through the sourcing, restoration, conservation and display of historic buses and bus artefacts, we strive to create a lasting connection between the past and present, inspiring a deep appreciation for our transport heritage.
By fostering community engagement, inclusivity, education, and collaboration, we aim to be the leading organisation dedicated to preserving and showcasing Western Australia's historic buses and related transport artefacts — equipment, engines, photos, signage, uniforms, documents and more.
Preserving WA's transport heritage
To operate a nationally recognised, working collection of buses, preserving and presenting the social and engineering heritage of historic buses used in Western Australia for the enjoyment of visitors, the public, and for the benefit and education of future generations.
Awards & grants
BPSWA has been supported and recognised for preserving Western Australia's public-transport heritage. A $1,000 Stockland Whiteman Edge Community Grant supported the SBS15 restoration in 2016.
Federal Community Heritage Grants funded both a Significance Assessment and a Preservation Needs Assessment of the collection. The first assessment resulted in the collection being classified as of National Significance.
The Society also received an Infinity Award in the Community Section of the 2012 Waste Authority Awards, and has been recognised as a heritage tourism product.

As stated in our Constitution
- To promote and encourage the acquisition and restoration of any bus, trolley bus, or other road passenger vehicle in service in Western Australia for display and/or operational purposes.
- To promote and encourage the compilation and publication of authentic records in relation to road passenger transport past and present.
- To promote and encourage the acquisition and preservation of items relating to road passenger transport past and present.
- To become affiliated with or subscribe to any other organisation or body whose objects are similar to those of this Society, and if thought fit, to withdraw or retire from such association or body.
